Being drum major of the Ohio State University marching band the past two years has been a dream come true for 1999 Elyria High graduate Adam Prescott. But this year has been extra special for Prescott. His band mates recently voted him Most Inspirational Bandsperson, making him the first drum major to win the award since 1988.

“I have won a few awards in my life, but I am more proud of the MIB award than any other I have received,” Prescott said.

He gave thanks to his family and friends and Elyria High band director Doug Benford, “For giving me the leadership tools and confidence to be successful.”

Prescott is one in a line of Elyria High graduates to hold the most prestigious position in the Ohio State band. At today’s game against Michigan, he will be the feature of the halftime show.

“This season has been like a dream so far. The Michigan game is setting up exactly like I had hoped. There is nothing more exhilarating than having the last home game of your career against your biggest rival,” he said.
