Ohio State University Drum Major: Eric Sommer

Fourth year aviation engineering major Eric M. Sommer, a native of Avon Lake, Ohio, has been selected Drum Major for the 2004 football season with The Best Damn Band In The Land. Eric returns to TBDBITL after a two year hiatus from the band, having served as assistant drum major during the 2001 season. Eric's selection as Drum Major marks a milestone for the OSUMB as this is the first time siblings have served as drum major. Older brother Scott Sommer was the "...man out front" in the 1998 season.

While the weather man threatened to send us inside with the promise of afternoon thunderstorms, the competition was held outdoors under mostly cloudy skies at the Woody Hayes Athletic Facility on Olentangy River Road.
